In 1933, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) became the president of the US. In this first year as president, Roosevelt faced the Great Depression, an economic crisis that put American citizens on a financial panic. He offered a New Deal to fight economic desperation and unemployment, increase great opportunities and restoring prosperity in the country. Running the office from 1933 to 1945, which is longest presidency period in US history, Roosevelt administration worked for an improved role played by the federal government in fighting the social and economic ruins facing the nation (Patel, 2017). His presidency developed works projects that elevated economic development, work relief programs that increased jobs and a federal Social Security system.
