Equality is when everyone is equal in terms of status, opportunities and rights. Ireson (2017) states that in an ideal democratic society, all forms of inequality are eliminated to ensure that all social groups have equal opportunities. A democratic and self-governing society ensures that there is equality in all aspects of life.
