Scholars tend to view religion as a social phenomenon, such as a group with the same belief and shares practices and institutions. Moreover, the idea of organized religion emerges from the broader idea of religion. Even though defining religion and organized religion is becoming more difficult as the term religion increasingly fades, this paper will distinguish the two terms.
At first, religion is people’s relation to that which they regard as divine, holy, absolute, sacred, spiritual, and worthy of especial reverence. Additionally, it commonly consists of how various people deal with the concerns about how to live life and their fate when it ends (Bowen, 2017). In most traditions, such concerns and relations are expressed in terms of how perceives and related to gods and spirits. Furthermore, in more naturalistic and humanist forms of religion, these concerns are expressed in terms of how one relates or their attitudes toward the broader natural world or human community. In most religions, spiritual status is defined by texts, and people are esteemed to be invested with moral authority. According to Bowen (2017), members of a given religion participate in contemplative and devotional practices and rituals such as meditation and prayer.
