This week you will use your readings from the past two weeks as a point of departure to create your own artistic production and a reflection paper.
Part 1: Art Creation
Select one of the visual art pieces from Chapters1-6 or the lessons from Weeks 1-3 to use as a point of inspiration. Create a painting, sculpture, drawing, or work of architecture inspired by your selected art piece.
Part 2: Reflection
Write a reflection about the relationship between your art production and the inspiration piece. Include the following in the reflection paper:

Art Creation and Reflection – Sculpture, Painting, Or Drawing
Introduction
Art creation integrates various concepts of critical thinking and innovation processes that artists adopt in making pieces. When artists decide to create a piece of art, they identify and pick what they want to create based on their environment and personal experiences (Martin & Jacobus, 2018). Also, the environment and personal experiences are integrated with the artist’s physical creativity and ability, which is significant for change in ideas and thoughts and experiences to pieces of art. Therefore, like in cultural and social settings, artists can be used as a way to project feelings, ideas, and values.
Inspiration Piece
The Cave paintings from Chauvet Cave discovered by Jean-Marie Chauvet, Christian Hillaire, and Eliette Brunel-Deschamps in the Chauvet Cave in South France highly inspired me. The cave paintings are believed to have been created by ancient people in the area who lived between 30000 and 35000 years ago. Jean-Marie Chauvet and his colleagues discovered the painting in December 1994 (Kottman, 2019). In this piece, the creator deployed a blend of paints and inscriptions in order to attain accuracy with regard to the anatomical representation of the animals. Additionally, the creator used varying colors, which was achievable through the use of charcoal to blend the floor. Additionally, partial red prints used in this piece were made using the palm, thus highlighting the complexity of the work (Kottman, 2019). Moreover, as Kottman (2019) argues, figurative descriptions of woolly mammoths, lions, bulls, and other animals create a better understanding of how early humans’ level of understanding of their surroundings; thus, it inspires me to appreciate nature and the role it plays in our life. It is inspiring that humans who lived around 35000 years ago understood and appreciated their environment and decided to represent it in the art for future generations.
My Art Piece
The Cave paintings from Chauvet Caves inspired me to create a piece which I called the Winter Magical Tree. So that I could produce better quality, this piece is exceptionally based on water paper. Additionally, I used watercolor pencils in finalizing this piece. Additionally, the diverse elements applied in this painting, especially the different colors, were a result of crayons, colored pencils, and a marker. The tree without lives and the falling snow represent the magic of winter, and appreciate this reason as part of nature.
Connection
Regarding the Cave paintings from Chauvet Caves, the creator painted various species o animals in the cave as a way of appreciating what is around them, thus signifying their importance in their lives. Similarly, I choose to paint about the winter season because it is a magical season and part of nature that should be appreciated. It is important for the audience to understand to appreciate the season and the moments associated with it. Despite the two art pieces having different backgrounds and surfaces, they are interconnected with regard to the representation of visual elements of such as shading, shape, structure, and line (Martin & Jacobus, 2018). Additionally, the aforementioned elements have been utilized in both pieces to capture the attention of the viewers. However, there is still some uniqueness in each. For instance, the Cave paintings from Chauvet Cave use charcoal for shading and the palm to paint some colors, thus resulting in a rough texture and harp lines (Kottman, 2019). The Winter Magical Tree shows falling snow.
