What are the differences between leaders and managers? What characteristics are similar and what are different?

Provide a total of three examples. First, of someone who has great managerial skills. Second, another individual with great leadership skills. Third, another person with poor managerial skills. These can be made up individuals or examples you have seen without any identifying information. Discuss how the staff of each individual would be affected by the skills of the leader/manager.

                                        Leadership and Managing

The words leaders and managers are often used interchangeably, but even though there are roles some similarities between the two, they vary in some ways. However, both work together to promote the organizational goals and objectives. This paper will distinguish between a manager and leader and share their similar and different characteristics. It will also discuss great managerial skills, good leadership skills, and poor managerial skills, using an example for each. Lastly, this paper will discuss my scores from the Emotional Intelligence Test and describe their meaning.

                                       Leaders and Managers

Managers and leaders are important in delivering good services in an organization, but even though the two may have similar aspects, they share different roles, skills, outlook, and behavior. Often, good managers will need leadership skills, while effective leaders will need managerial skills. However, the two are different in various aspects. At first, managers exercise the direction of an organization or a group through administrative supervisory and executive roles (Bridges, 2018). Moreover, managers’ responsibilities are usually tasked-oriented and entail maintaining discipline and ethics while resolving conflicts and mentoring and developing staff and persons with high potential. A good manager aims at providing services in a sustainable and efficient manner. Moreover, managers organize, plan, budget, monitor, and coordinate activities in an organization or a group. Managers are responsible for using resources efficiently to achieve definite set objectives. With management entailing the process of meeting organizational goals, managers focus on directing their subordinates and controlling the structures, systems, and resources formally.
