Researchers are responsible for protecting the individuals participating in their studies and respecting them as well as their dignity. The participants should have all the necessary knowledge regarding the study’s purpose, procedures and potential risks. They should have a good idea of the research to avoid misunderstandings and ensure they have sufficient knowledge of what they are signing for. This paper will analyze the ethical concerns in the three different psychological research studies.
At first, there are various ethical concerns in Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment. The participants did not have sufficient information about this study’s research purpose and process while they were arrested without their consent. The participants were not protected from haram while playing the role of prisoners where they were subjected to emotional, physical and psychological distress (Haslam & Reicher, 2012). By the time the experiment was over, most of the participants were experiencing severe emotional problems (Haslam & Reicher, 2012).
