This article argues that cultural and social factors in a child’s environment influence the child’s social-emotional development, particularly socioemotional adjustment, neurodevelopment, and genetic expression.

According to this article, a child’s social-emotional climate, particularly in the family environment, is vital to the child’s socioemotional development. As a result, the parent-child interactions, especially in the earliest year, are critical to later socioemotional development. Cui et al. (2018) used some key dynamics to show the association. This included how negative and positive parent-child interactions shaped children’s behavioral, affective, neurodevelopmental, and genetic adjustment across cultures. To support this claim, Cui et al.
