Trace one of the biblical themes from the list below noting developments of that theme in Old Testament and in the New Testament.  Show how N.T. writers reinterpreted the theme. Show the continuity in the development of the theme as well as any changes in meaning.

People have different ideas and beliefs about death, especially in its origin and life after death. Similarly, the concept of death and its teaching have continuously evolved, which is evident in the Old Testament and New Testament.   There are various similarities between the teachings and ideas of death in the Old Testament and New Testament, but also the New Testament has reinterpreted some old concepts.

According to Balentine, both the Old Testament and New Testament clearly teaches us that death is a penalty of sin given by God.
